A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a 24-year-old man who was found stabbed to death at a home in Greater Manchester on New Year’s Eve.

The victim, named in court as Joe Burton, died at the scene after police were called to an address in Tarn Drive, Bury, at 23:55 GMT on Wednesday.

Anthony Junior Murray, 25, also of Tarn Drive, appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court earlier where he was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday.

Mr Murray is also charged with possession of a bladed article.

Greater Manchester Police said a woman aged in her 20s who was also arrested in connection with the death has been bailed pending further inquiries.

The investigation is continuing and police are extending an appeal for information.

Witnesses or anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from around the area are urged to contact the force.
