Farmer Andrew Pritchard has issued a direct plea to Keir Starmer, after farmers in Peterborough have launched a surprise blockade of three major supermarket distribution centres.

warns British agriculture is “grinding to a halt” as producers are forced to sell food below the cost of production.

He says farmers are being undercut by cheaper imports while supermarkets continue to turn a profit.

Mr Pritchard argues inheritance tax was the “final straw”, sparking protests and calls for a full Government U-turn.

He warns that without urgent action, food security and homegrown produce are being “neglected” by both Government and supermarkets.
