A fatal shooting occurred in close proximity to the I’m A Celebrity jungle camp in Australia on Wednesday, prompting police to launch an urgent search for the perpetrator.

The incident took place at a property in Eungella, New South Wales, where a 41-year-old man was shot and subsequently died at the scene.

A second victim, aged 38, also sustained gunshot wounds during the attack but was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

The shooter escaped from the location alongside an accomplice, triggering a manhunt in the area.

Emergency services received notification of the incident at 1.25pm local time, with officers from the Tweed/Byron Police District responding to the scene.

The deceased man has not yet been formally identified by authorities.

The location of the shooting sits just a 20-minute drive from Camp Dungay, where the ITV reality show contestants were present at the time of the attack.

Celebrities including Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp would have been at the jungle camp when the violent incident unfolded nearby.

Police immediately initiated a search operation

Police immediately initiated a search operation across the town following the gunman’s escape with his accomplice.

In a separate but related incident along the same road, a 45-year-old man was struck by a vehicle and required hospital treatment.

This individual was subsequently placed under police guard at the medical facility.

Both he and the suspected accomplice have been taken into custody, though local authorities have not disclosed the specific charges they face.

A source close to the production revealed that security personnel monitoring the jungle site maintain constant vigilance

A source close to the production revealed that security personnel monitoring the jungle site maintain constant vigilance regarding developments in the surrounding region.

“The jungle security bosses keep their ears to the ground and are well-aware of what’s going on in the local area,” the source told The Sun.

“If something has happened nearby, they know about it and they act swiftly to ensure the safety of the entire team at all times.”

The source confirmed that nobody associated with the programme’s production was impacted by the violent events.

“Fortunately, no one connected with the show’s production was in any way affected by this incident,” they added.

The swift response from the show’s security team ensured all cast and crew remained protected throughout the ordeal.

The New South Wales Police Force issued a statement confirming that two men, aged 41 and 38, were allegedly shot by another individual who then fled alongside a fourth person.

“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the older man at the property for a gunshot wound; however, he died at the scene,” police stated.

Detectives are seeking to interview both the surviving shooting victim and the man involved in the hit-and-run to determine the full circumstances surrounding their injuries.

Authorities have urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.

“Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” the force added.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to piece together the sequence of events.
