GB News viewers have been praised for their “life-changing” impact after a veteran reached out for help following an on-air charity appeal.
Craig Monaghan, CEO of the Spearhead Foundation, joined the channel to highlight the work of the charity, which supports veterans struggling with mental health, debt, and reintegration into civilian life.
Speaking on air, Mr Monaghan revealed that a veteran, who had been preparing to take his own life, contacted the foundation after seeing the appeal.
Thanks to support from viewers, the veteran is now receiving counselling and help to manage high-priority debt, giving him a new lease of life.
Since launching in 2018, the foundation has worked with hundreds of veterans – both current and former members of the armed forces or emergency services.
The charity provides an opportunity for meeting new people and settling back into civilian life, while other times, it quite literally saves lives.
Speaking on The People’s Channel, Mr Monaghan explained: “Back in February, we were in a difficult situation, and GB News viewers really helped us.
“Then, at Christmas, we ran a programme that helps emergency workers and armed forces personnel with food and presents if they can’t afford it.

“A week before Christmas, we were contacted by a veteran who had been watching the show.
“He was just getting his kids ready to send off to his mum’s and was about to take his own life. Seeing us on GB News prompted him to reach out for support.”
He added: “Next year, throughout the Christmas period, we’ve identified a real need. For just the Christmas period, it will cost nearly £28,000 to feed everyone we’re supporting.
“Normally, our programme stops in January, leaving people to fend for themselves up and down the country. We’re aiming to continue support next year.

“That veteran I mentioned had been wounded in Afghanistan and tried to continue serving. He’s only been out of the army for eight months and has had zero support.
“He’s got around £15,000 of high-priority debt. We’re getting him into counselling and will continue support throughout the year.
“We’re also planning a trip to Texas for disabled veterans, an experience they wouldn’t normally have, with counselling and weekly events included.
“Counselling costs are high. In 2025, supporting 98 people cost £36,000, and we already have 62 more people on the waiting list. That’s why we started bringing people in early.”
He described coming out of the Army and feeling alone with no support.
Speaking to Britain’s News Channel earlier this year he revealed what pushed him to launch The Spearhead Foundation; to make sure other veterans don’t have the same experience as him.
Explaining what happens to donations, he said: “When you donate to The Spearhead Foundation, you’re not funding some CEO on big money; you’re not funding staff… you’re actually funding to keep veterans and emergency workers alive.”
