Boy George has entered the ongoing public row over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s rumoured plans to relocate back to Britain.

The Culture Club singer pointed out what he sees as a glaring inconsistency in the national conversation.

“If no one cares about the return of Harry and Meghan to the UK, why is everyone talking about it?” the star posted on X.

The singer went further in a separate social media post, declaring that he would welcome the Sussexes back to London.

Social media users were quick to respond to the post.

One person replied: “Good question, and personally I’m sick of people criticising them and having opinions that are just not true.”

Another added: “Because Meghan had the audacity to be born with a skin colour which isn’t white and the establishment can’t handle it. That’s why they’re vilified.”

“Because we live in a toxic culture and everyone loves to publicly hate each other,” a third penned.

However, not everyone shared this view.

One critic hit back, saying: “Perhaps it is out of concern for the problems they may cause, not necessarily caring for them personally?”

“Because taxpayers are funding this,” another stated.

Someone else added: “Probably cos it’s so idiotically unbelievable that the UK is having these two useless grifters back.”

This came after a pointed exchange with Laurence Fox, the actor and Reclaim Party founder, who had launched a scathing attack on the couple.

“The Sussexes are the epitome of everything that is wrong with modern Western culture. Talentless, entitled, narcissistic attention seekers.

“I look forward to moaning Markle tanking whatever show someone is silly enough to hire her to do the acting in,” Mr Fox wrote on social media.

Boy George responded to Mr Fox with a post saying: “I welcome them back. We can start over. People can change, Lawrence. Even you, dear! Lol!”

Boy George’s interest in the Royal Family is well documented.

During his stint on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here in 2022, where he became the fourth contestant to be voted off, he described the British monarchy as the “best reality show in the world”.

That fascination has not translated into outright allegiance to any particular faction within the royal household.

The singer has maintained a broadly neutral stance on the Sussexes specifically, even as he has repeatedly found the institution itself irresistible as a subject of commentary.

His artistic output has also drawn on royal themes.

He has spoken about channelling the monarchy into his painting, noting that creative work centred on the royals helps sustain his artistic energy.
