Spain’s royal family has been rejoicing following their national team’s commanding semi-final triumph at the 2026 World Cup.
La Roja secured a 2-0 victory against France on Tuesday, booking their spot in the championship match scheduled for July 19.
The win means Spain will compete for only their second World Cup title in history, having previously lifted the trophy in 2010.
Their opponents in the final will be Argentina after they knocked out England on Wednesday.

King Felipe, 58, Queen Letizia, 53, and their daughters Princess Leonor, 20, and Princess Sofia, 19, were pictured watching the semi-final together.
The family donned matching versions of Spain’s 2026 World Cup away strip, each personalised with their names and bearing the number 26.
Official royal social media channels published photographs and footage capturing the family cheering enthusiastically as the goals went in.

Their coordinated outfits demonstrated the family’s united support for the national side during the tournament’s crucial knockout stages.

Accompanying the celebratory content, the royals shared a message of praise and encouragement for the squad.
“¡España está en la final!” they wrote, before adding: “You have proved again why you are one of the great teams in the world. Now, with a whole country on your side, it’s time to fight for the title. Thank you for letting us enjoy this road. Go for it, @sefutbol!”
The heartfelt tribute acknowledged the team’s status among football’s elite nations whilst rallying support ahead of the decisive match.
When asked by reporters on Wednesday whether the royals intended to travel to the championship match, King Felipe responded: “We’re on it,” suggesting a transatlantic trip may be in the works.

The final will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, temporarily renamed New York New Jersey Stadium under FIFA regulations.
Should the royals attend, it would mark a significant moment for the princesses, who were too young to witness Spain’s 2010 triumph in South Africa.
Back then, Felipe attended as crown prince alongside Letizia, joined by his parents, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sophia.
The young princesses later met the victorious squad at a palace reception in Madrid, where captain Iker Casillas presented the trophy to the then-toddlers.
