The Duke of Sussex’s substantial £50million privacy claim was thrown out as part of the comprehensive defeat.
In an August decision, Mr Justice Nicklin ruled that the group must pay £9,544,355 within seven days as an initial contribution to the publisher’s costs, ahead of further hearings to determine the total sum.
Now, a spokesman for Harry, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Sir Elton John, David Furnish, Liz Hurley and Sadie Frost announced the decision to pursue an appeal in a statement released today.
“We confirm that the claimants have today filed applications with the Court of Appeal for permission to appeal the judgements of Mr Justice Nicklin in respect of his dismissal of their claims and the indemnity costs order.
