A group of pro-Palestine activists have been accused of intimidating cancer patients with “extremist politicking”.

Campaign group Global Health for Palestine were caught handing out leaflets across several hospitals, leaving literature around NHS facilities – including chemotherapy treatment rooms.

The leaflets say activists “will not be silent about the genocide in Palestine” and describe antisemitism training as “pro-Israel indoctrination”.

The Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, in north London, was just one of the hospitals targeted in recent weeks, The Telegraph revealed.

The literature also brushes aside the IHRA’s definition of antisemitism, which has been on the rise since the Hamas-led terrorist attacks of October 7.

One leaflet depicts a lanyard with pins including the Palestine flag, a rainbow, a “She/Her” pronoun badge and a watermelon, which represents “Palestinian resistance”.

It adds that “antisemitism is exceptionalised and prioritised over all other forms of racism”.

Another hit out at NHS managers for “threatening, bullying or victimising” individuals “for expressing solidarity with Palestine”.

“A climate of fear over Palestine now hangs over the NHS,’ it reads.

And, due to the “emotional trauma of this witch-hunt”, the campaigners claim, frontline NHS services have lost out on clinical time.

The leaflet urges patients to don Palestine colours, or a badge or scarf, and complain to their local NHS service to “stop targeting health workers who stand up against genocide”.

For staff members, it encourages individuals to speak with the unions and “defend” other colleagues.

Director of legal campaign group UK Lawyers for Israel Caroline Turner condemned the “intimidating leaflets” which were “upsetting to Jewish and Israeli patients and their families, particularly as they are in a vulnerable state”.

Lord Mann, the former Labour MP who conducted a review of antisemitism and other forms of racism in the NHS, told The Telegraph: “The NHS isn’t a place for people’s extremist politicking and the public is entitled, as are all staff, to use the NHS without any hostility.

“This should not be happening. People seeing this kind of thing won’t want to use the NHS, and we can’t have a bar on Jewish people, or anyone else, using the NHS.

“The country won’t have it.”

The peer’s review, which was published back in June of this year, said Jewish staff and patients had been “ostracised” within the public service.

The report called for formal antisemitism training for NHS managers as well as more transparent guidance on regulations surrounding conduct and uniforms.

The Government accepted the outlined recommendations, confirming they would protect ethnic minorities across the board.
