Prince William returned to public duty at the Cenotaph today, joining King Charles and senior members of the Royal Family for the National Service of Remembrance in London after missing Saturday evening’s Festival of Remembrance due to travel commitments.
The Prince of Wales laid a wreath at the memorial on Whitehall, honouring the servicemen and women who have lost their lives in conflict.
The solemn ceremony, held annually on Remembrance Sunday, brings together veterans, serving personnel and representatives of the Armed Forces, alongside political leaders and members of the Royal Family.
Prince William stepped forward to place his wreath, bowing his head during the two-minute silence observed across the nation.
His appearance marked his return to the UK after travelling to Brazil last week, where he carried out engagements linked to environmental and conservation work.
His absence on Saturday meant Princess Kate attended the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall with their son, Prince George.
It was the first occasion the 12-year-old had taken part in the commemorative event, viewed by many as a thoughtful introduction to the significance of remembrance within royal duty.
The Princess of Wales watched today’s Cenotaph service from the centre balcony of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office building, alongside Queen Camilla.

Prince William served for seven and a half years in the Armed Forces, including active search-and-rescue duty as an RAF pilot.
Support for serving personnel, veterans and military families remains one of the central pillars of his public work.
He currently holds several military appointments and honorary roles, including Colonel of the Welsh Guards, Colonel-in-Chief of The Mercian Regiment and the Army Air Corps, and Royal Honorary Air Commodore at RAF Valley. He is also Commodore-in-Chief, Submarines.
King Charles led today’s service, laying the first wreath at the Cenotaph in his role as Sovereign and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

The King’s military career began in 1971, when he gained his RAF wings before serving in the Royal Navy and later commanding HMS Bronington during his final months of naval service.
He now holds numerous senior honorary military ranks and affiliations across the forces.
Prince Edward also took part in today’s ceremony, laying a wreath in his capacity as Colonel of the Scots Guards and holder of multiple other military appointments.
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh watched the proceedings from the left balcony of the FCDO, standing alongside the Duke of Kent.
The National Service of Remembrance remains one of the most significant moments in the country’s collective calendar, marking the sacrifice of those who served in conflicts past and present.
Today’s service continued that tradition, with tributes delivered both at the Cenotaph and in local communities across the United Kingdom.
