Kent Police has announced that PC Bradley Corke has died following injuries sustained while on duty.

The 27-year-old officer was critically hurt on Thursday evening when the police vehicle he was travelling in crashed during an emergency response. He passed away yesterday.

A fellow officer who was also in the car at the time of the incident remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The force confirmed that both officers had been rushing to answer an urgent call when the collision occurred.

The crash took place on the westbound carriageway of the A20 London Road, at its junction with Button Street in Farningham, at roughly 7.45pm on Thursday.

A marked Ford Focus, driven by the officers, and a VW Scirocco were involved in the collision.

Kent Police have confirmed that the police car was clearly identifiable as an emergency vehicle at the time of the incident.

The force has urged anyone who may have witnessed what happened to come forward with information.

PC Corke had been a member of Kent Police since May 2022, serving communities across West Kent from his base in Tonbridge.

The force paid tribute to the officer, stating that he “selflessly gave up his life while trying to save the lives of others who were in danger.”

His bravery, dedication and commitment to helping people would not be forgotten, they added.

The late officer’s family and colleagues are said to be devastated by his death, with the force providing ongoing support.
