Nigel Farage has issued an eerie warning over the possibility of a “modern-day brain drain” while forecasting a mass exodus of Britain’s “ambitious” youth.

Speaking on Farage, the GB News presenter shredded Rachel Reeves’s Budget, which she delivered in the Commons on Wednesday afternoon.

But he also forecast that Britain’s pioneering youngsters could be eyeing up other European nations to flee Ms Reeves’s tax hikes.

Speaking on GB News, Nigel Farage said: “My take on [the budget] is that the exodus that is happening is a disaster.

“I do blame, actually, Jeremy Hunt, a former Chancellor, very much indeed; cracking down on non-doms. And of course, Rachel Reeves took it further.

“But of course, everybody hates billionaires unless, of course, you’re employed by them, or they spend their money in your shop.

“And actually, they were paying their share of UK taxes.

“But it’s not just that. Many of the rich are fleeing. They fear vindictive, retrospective taxation from this Government, but also the young 30-somethings, those who are really entrepreneurial and want to work.

“And people are out there, they want them. Dubai wants them. Milan wants them. Lisbon wants them.

“And now even Athens is in the bidding for young British talent. Will this budget lead to a further exodus? I believe it.

“Whenever Labour in power, as was back in the 1970s when we had the brain drain, this is the modern-day brain drain.

“And Peter Kyle has actually admitted this. The Business Secretary has admitted we’re losing talent.

“I think today will send more people abroad.”

To tackle what has been described as a £40billion black hole in the public finances, the Budget blends a concoction of tax and borrowing measures affecting pensioners, working professionals, benefit claimants, motorists, students and savers.

It is believed that the tax hikes will be the key motivator to leave the UK.

Last week, official Government data revealed that Britons fleeing the nation had hit record numbers in the year Labour nabbed the keys to Downing Street.

Some 257,000 British nationals fled in the year leading up to December 2024, tripling the previous forecast of around 77,000.

The jump in Britons departing the country is believed to be thanks to the threat of those with the “broadest shoulders” being slapped with higher taxes and a continued crackdown on non-doms.

Last week, Shadow Business Secretary Andrew Griffith said: “Labour’s economic exodus is in full flight as people flee Rachel Reeves’s tax hikes and mismanagement.

“It’s potentially the biggest reverse migration in British history.

“This was entirely predictable – when you tax something, you get less of it, and now people are voting with their feet.”
