Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has enjoyed a whirlwind few days, with a charitable fashion venture proving an immediate hit over the weekend.
The £75 jumper she created for Moms Offering More, a charity established by Kasondra Herrendorf-Cohen, sold out in just hours after the Duchess promoted it on Instagram on Sunday.
The 45-year-old posed wearing the neutral-toned top, which features the phrase “It’s the Little Things” embroidered in chocolate brown on the back and sleeve.
Marking International Day of the Girl, Meghan wrote: “We share one intention as parents: a safe and loving future for our children. We can all appreciate that ‘the little things’ ladder up to big outcomes, especially when it comes to the future of our children.”
The initiative caps off a particularly eventful stretch for the Duchess ahead of a significant public appearance later this week.
Meghan also delighted followers on Sunday by sharing a brief Instagram clip of her two children, Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, enjoying an outing in a deer park.
The footage showed Archie gliding along on a scooter while his younger sister trailed behind, both wearing backpacks. Lilibet’s pink rucksack coordinated with her dress, and at one point the young princess appeared to veer off the path, seemingly drawn by a herd of deer visible in the distance.
The family’s Labrador, Pula, could be seen trotting alongside the pair as they made their way down a tree-lined avenue.
The Duchess chose The Temptations’ classic “My Girl” as the soundtrack, a track that opens with the lyric: “I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day.”
The purpose behind Meghan’s widely reported meeting with Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai at Claridge’s on October 7 has now been disclosed.
Meghan shared two photographs of the pair taking afternoon tea together, surrounded by scones, pastries and cakes.
A joint quote from the Duchess and Ms Yousafzai accompanied the images: “When we support the girls of today, we empower the women of tomorrow. Access to education is the key to unlocking this.”
To coincide with International Day of the Girl, the brand announced that all net proceeds from its range of jams and teas would be directed to the Malala Fund through a partnership with Archewell Philanthropies.
The fund works to guarantee every girl access to free, safe and quality education.
The couple’s week reaches its crescendo on Thursday with a visit to Nottingham, a city carrying particular significance, as it hosted their debut joint appearance following their engagement announcement in 2017.
They are expected to call in on several community initiatives, among them Community Recording Studio (CRS), in what will be their first royal-style engagement together since relocating from the UK in 2020.
The outing comes with complications, however. A letter dispatched on the King’s authority last month made clear that the Sussexes should be regarded as “private citizens” and confirmed that they remain unable to use their HRH titles.
A spokesman for the couple said they “were a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance.”
Security arrangements for the visit will be determined by Nottinghamshire Police.
