Meghan Markle is expected to travel to the UK this year and could bring her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams.

Speaking to GB News, Mr Fitzwilliams explained whether he believed the Duchess of Sussex, 44, would come to Britain in 2026.

“Yes, absolutely, I certainly do,” Mr Fitzwilliams told the People’s Channel.

“I think she’ll also bring Archie and Lilibet. I mean, will they see the King? Yes, I would suspect they will.

“How often and for how long? This will get international news, and remember that all of this has been planned.

“It’s been planned for a long time. But Harry is an exile. Exiles get very, very lonely, absolutely.”

The Duke of Sussex is widely expected to travel to Britain this year for Invictus Games promotion and countdown events ahead of the 2027 Birmingham Games, although no formal plans have been publicly confirmed.

Any potential arrangements involving the King would be a matter for the Palace.

A spokesman for Invictus previously told the Sun: “The Royal Family have been longstanding supporters of the Invictus Games since its inception in 2014, with The Duke of Sussex as the Founding Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation.

“While it is too early to confirm who will attend in 2027 as invitations have not yet been sent out, organisers of the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 will issue invitations to members of the Royal Family in due course, and we would very much welcome their presence.”

Mr Fitzwilliams suggested the scale of interest would be unavoidable if Meghan returned with the couple’s children, given the global scrutiny around the family’s relationship with the Royal Family since the Sussexes stepped back from their senior working roles.

Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, have been kept largely out of the public eye, with the couple controlling when and how images are shared.

A UK trip involving them would therefore be expected to attract significant attention.

Mr Fitzwilliams’s comments come as the Sussexes continue to balance their lives in the United States with Harry’s ongoing links to the UK through his work and commitments.

The duke travelled back to Britain last month for the first week of his High Court battle against Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail.

Any return by Meghan would be closely watched for what it signals about the Sussexes’ relationship with the wider Royal Family and whether there is any change in tone or contact behind the scenes.

A source previously said that Harry “desperately” wanted his father to open the Games alongside him.

The insider claimed: “Harry wants it to happen both for the Games, and for their relationship. It’s his dream to have his father by his side.

“It is appropriate because Invictus is returning to the UK for the first time since 2014, and given Charles is Head of the Armed Forces.

“Invictus always invites Heads of State, but Harry wants to go further with Charles involved in the opening ceremony.

“The Games represent a cause close to both their hearts. They appear to want a reconciliation, and the games are a perfect opportunity for them to work alongside each other.

“The sight of them on stage when it opens would be heart-warming and in the spirit of the occasion.

“People helping to plan the Games are convinced it will happen and are planning for Charles to play a role in the opening ceremony.”
