Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has claimed top spot on Tatler’s prestigious ‘Best Dressed in Britain’ ranking for 2026, marking the second time the 44-year-old has earned the accolade after first securing it in 2022.

The magazine was particularly taken with two standout moments from Catherine’s recent wardrobe: a sunny yellow Roksanda outfit worn at Ascot, and a sharp Blazé Milano blazer she sported during her tour of Italy.

Her Roland Mouret blush tea dress worn for Peter and Harriet Phillips’ wedding earlier this year was also noted as “divine”.

“Now feels the perfect moment to salute Britain’s chicest figure, back to health – and back to being a Brit-fashion heroine,” the caption read.

Catherine’s reputation for polished, refined dressing has long made her a fixture in fashion conversations – as has her tendency to opt for lesser-known British brands.

For example, on Garter Day this year, the princess wore a honey yellow coat dress, made in London by Patrick McDowell, after presenting the emerging fashion designer with the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design.

The royal praise and exposure were described as a “game changer” for Liverpool-based McDowell’s label.

Taking the runner-up spot in Tatler’s list was NHS television doctor Dr Raj Arora, whose social media presence – followed by some 69,000 people – showcases a blend of glamour and intellect.

British sprinter Temi Ojroa, 24, landed in third. The Knott Hair braiding company founder turned heads on Instagram with images of herself in a dramatic green gown photographed in Rome.

Fourth place went to actor Edward Bluemel, 33, recognised for his roles across Amazon, BBC and Netflix productions. His credentials have been bolstered by a bespoke Edward Sexton suit at Wimbledon and Dior ensembles on the red carpet.

Completing the top five was Gjin Lipa, the 20-year-old DJ and younger brother of pop star Dua Lipa, whose style Tatler deemed as effortlessly cool as his sister’s.

Batia Ofer, the 51-year-old art collector who chairs the Royal Academy Trust, secured her place on the list as a devoted Chanel client with a taste for “high jewellery and gowns you could hang in the Louvre.”

Jemima Khan, 52, the filmmaker and friend of the late Princess Diana, was hailed as an “original It-Girl.” She made a memorable impression in a monochrome velvet dress at the Albie Awards in October and a printed Cala de la Cruz number earlier in the year.

Tatler’s annual ranking has a rich history of royal connections. Princess Beatrice claimed the crown in 2024, a notable redemption 13 years after widespread ridicule of her “pretzel” hat at William and Catherine’s wedding.

The Duchess of Sussex also topped the list in 2018, the same year the late Queen Elizabeth II was placed 27th.

Lady Eliza Spencer and her sister Amelia shared the honour in 2021.

Last year, Zara Tindall – cousin of the Prince of Wales – was ranked seventh. Tatler praised her by saying: “Riding with polish and dressing with panache, Princess Anne’s daughter is a vision on and off the horse.”

Queen Camilla’s sister Annabel Elliot also featured in 2025, finishing fifth on that occasion.
