Meghan Markle’s latest As Ever launch has drawn comparisons with a moment from her time as a working royal.

The lifestyle brand has released new images featuring an affirmation-style message similar to those the Duchess of Sussex once wrote for vulnerable women in Bristol.

In 2019, during a visit to the Bristol charity One25, the Duchess wrote short messages, including “You are strong” and “You are loved”, on bananas placed inside food parcels for street sex workers.

She said at the time that she had been inspired by a US school lunch initiative where affirmations were written on fruit for children, describing it as “this small gesture”.

Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, has now promoted a Honey Duo and leather bookmark holiday bundle exclusively sold through Godmothers Books in California.

The accompanying images posted on Instagram include a photograph of the leather bookmark clipped to an illustrated book.

The open page features the line: “Always remember you matter, you’re important and you are loved, and you bring to this world things no one else can.”

The repetition of affirmation-style language in both the Bristol charity visit and the new As Ever promotional material is notable.

The similarities between the messages written on the bananas in 2019 and the wording used on the bookmark point to a consistent approach in the Duchess’s public and commercial work.

The Honey Duo, previously listed at $62 (£49), forms part of As Ever’s expanding range of seasonal food items, which also includes spreads, teas and home products.

The bundle is being sold through Godmothers Books, a shop in Summerland that has become closely linked with the Sussexes.

The As Ever holiday bundle will remain available exclusively through the bookshop for a limited time.

Meghan has taken part in interviews for the shop, including a recent discussion about her family’s weekend routines.

She also attended an event there in October to support her former university sorority sister Courtney Adamo.

The shop is owned by the Duchess’s friends Victoria Jackson and Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, both of whom have been involved in previous Sussex projects.
