British actor and former singer-songwriter Cosmo Jarvis has emerged as a surprise name attracting major momentum in the race to become the next James Bond.

The shift in betting markets follows the latest update from Amazon MGM Studios confirming that the search for a new 007 is officially underway.

While bookmakers still have Callum Turner installed as the clear frontrunner, a wave of betting support has suddenly propelled Jarvis into the spotlight, despite him remaining a huge outsider at 66/1.

The 36-year-old Warfare star accounted for a remarkable 42 percent of all bets placed on the next Bond market today through Oddschecker, showing growing excitement among fans eager to see a fresh face take over from Daniel Craig.

Mr Jarvis, who first found recognition as a singer-songwriter before transitioning into acting, has quietly built a reputation as one of Britain’s most intriguing screen talents.

His gritty performances have now led many Bond fans to believe he could fit the mould of a tougher, more emotionally complex 007.

The star has now overtaken Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the running

Despite the surge in support, bookmakers remain cautious about his chances with odds of 66/1.

Oddschecker spokesperson Chris Rogers said: “With the search for the next Bond officially underway, punters have flocked to the next Bond betting market.

“Cosmo Jarvis has been incredibly well backed today with 42 percent of bets favouring the ex-singer/songwriter for the role.

“At 66/1, Jarvis has an implied win probability of just 1.5 percent but his odds will undoubtedly shorten if support continues to grow for the 36-year-old.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson remains in the race

“Long-term favourite Callum Turner remains the bookmaker’s favourite at 6/5.”

Mr Turner continues to lead the market at 6/5, giving the Fantastic Beasts actor a probability of 46 percent.

He is followed by Harris Dickinson at 3/1 and Jacob Elordi at 5/1.

Other notable names still firmly in contention include Aaron Taylor-Johnson at 9/1, Theo James at 12/1, and longtime fan favourite Henry Cavill at 16/1.

Further down the betting, rising stars such as Aaron Pierre, Joe Alwyn and Tom Bateman have also attracted support from Bond fans looking for a different direction for the franchise.

The intense speculation comes amid enormous anticipation surrounding Bond 26, which will mark the first film since Mr Craig’s departure after No Time To Die.
