“They’re doing a great job, they have done all season. The additions of Donervan [Daniels] and Robbo [Jamie Robson] at left-back have been brilliant this season.

“Both excellent players, both played in the league before, as well as obviously Manny [Monthe] who I played with last season – I know what he’s about.

“Look at Leakey [Jake Leake], the shift he’s put in, got his goal, and Will Sutton who is doing a brilliant job at right-back – everyone’s putting a great shift in.”

A terrific unbeaten run of nine matches – which has included seven wins – has propelled Oldham into the play-off picture.

Micky Mellon’s men are now just four points off the top seven, with two games in hand on seventh-placed Grimsby Town, and Hudson thinks Tuesday’s match could prove pivotal to their entire season.

He said: “It’ll be a special game, obviously a big atmosphere, but that’s what we expect here. The home fans are absolutely brilliant and we’re going to need them on Tuesday.

“I’m sure the analysts and all the staff will do their research on what we need to do, so looking forward to the game.”
