King Charles attended a music workshop at Battersea Power Station today to mark the launch of Apple x King’s Trust Creative Labs, a newly created programme delivering immersive, industry-driven educational experiences for young people.

The King was joined by Apple chief executive Tim Cook as they met the inaugural group of participants in the initiative.

Sir Elton John, a long-time backer of both The King’s Trust and Apple Music, was also present for the occasion.

The visit takes place during a landmark year for the charity, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026 with a continued focus on equipping young people with skills for the creative industries.

The Creative Labs programme comprises a series of specialist workshops designed to provide young people with technology, resources and sought-after skills to help them pursue careers in creative fields.

Participants learn directly from Apple’s own experts as they explore different professional pathways.

The first session centred on music creation, led by Prophet Guillory, Apple Music’s Head of Artist Services, Tools and Community, with the King hearing from those taking part.

The event concluded at the Apple Music Hall, a newly built live performance venue, where the King, Cook and Sir Elton John watched a short sound check performance alongside young people supported by the charity.

The King’s Trust was established in 1976 by Charles when he was Prince of Wales, and has since supported more than 1.3 million young people throughout the United Kingdom.

The charity’s work focuses on building life skills, preparing participants for the workplace, connecting them with job opportunities and helping them start their own businesses.

Over the past five years, three out of every four people the Trust has assisted have gone on to secure employment, enter education or begin training.

A study assessing the organisation’s social impact across its half-century of operation calculated that its programmes have generated at least £11.4 billion in social value.

Apple and The King’s Trust have worked together since 2019, with the technology company helping young people across the UK develop confidence and digital creative skills to improve their employment prospects.

Through this partnership, the Trust has been able to roll out STEAM education programmes in every region of the country via its Achieve initiative, where 11- to 20-year-olds use Apple’s coding resources to collaboratively design apps tackling community challenges.

Vulnerable young people aged 16 to 25 can also access Apple devices and learning materials through the Trust’s 12-week Team programme, supporting them in gaining a Personal Development and Employability qualification.

Beyond the Creative Labs, the two organisations are jointly developing resources aimed at fostering AI literacy and creativity among both educators and young people.
