King Charles and Queen Camilla have sent a heartwarming message of congratulations to their niece, Lady Louise Windsor, after she graduated this morning.

The daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, 22, earned her degree at the prestigious St Andrews University, Scotland, in English and International Relations.

Taking to social media platform X, the royals wrote: “Congratulations to Lady Louise on her graduation from St Andrews University!

“Lady Louise was joined by her parents, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, as they celebrated the end of her degree.”

The graduation ceremonies at the prestigious Scottish university began on June 29 at 10.30am and conclude tomorrow.

Prince Edward had already travelled north by Wednesday, attending the Thistle Service at St Giles’ Cathedral before making a visit to the Scottish Outdoor Education Centre Belmont, positioning him conveniently close to St Andrews.

Sophie, meanwhile, ensured her day was free of engagements in order to watch her eldest child complete her final step of education.

The Duke’s younger child, James, Earl of Wessex, was expected to join the family celebration, his A-Level examinations at Radley College having concluded on June 23.

The 17-year-old is a boarder at the distinguished Oxfordshire independent school.

Throughout her time at St Andrews, Lady Louise immersed herself in activities beyond the lecture hall.

She joined the Tayforth University Officers’ Training Corps in 2024, the Army Reserve unit serving students in the region, where she holds the rank of Officer Cadet.

The young royal also worked part-time serving meals in the university cafeteria.

Her passion for the performing arts saw her take to the stage in student theatre productions, where she met her boyfriend, Felix da Silva-Clamp, roughly two years ago.

The half-Australian Mr da Silva-Clamp has been spotted supporting Lady Louise at carriage-driving events, including the National Championships, alongside the Duchess of Edinburgh.

Lady Louise will return to the Palace of Holyroodhouse on Friday to receive her Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, presented by her father at a ceremony honouring hundreds of young achievers.

She completed the prestigious award during its 70th anniversary year, in a programme established by her late grandfather.

This year additionally marks four decades of Prince Edward’s dedication to championing the scheme and its role in helping young people fulfil their potential.

Following graduation, Lady Louise intends to take a gap year combining employment, charitable work and travel before determining her next steps.
