A huge fire has ripped through a building and busy roads have been closed during rush hours as firefighters battle a blaze in Salford.

The fire tore through a large commercial building on Bury New Road in the early hours of the morning.

Videos show smoke pouring out of the building with emergency services warning residents to “keep doors and windows closed and avoid the area.”

Greater Manchester Police Fire and Rescue Service confirmed: “Bury New Road remains closed while crews work to extinguish the fire.”

The fire broke out in a building that houses the Marc Darcy suit shop and warehouse.

Their website reads: “Important notice. Due to a fire at our premises, we are temporarily unable to accept any new order.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and will reopen ordering as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.”

Local buses in the area are being affected by the road closure.
