American Express has launched limited-time sign-up offers on its Platinum and Gold credit cards, with applications open for only a short window.

The promotional deals are only available until January 13, 2026.

Customers who apply successfully before the deadline can earn enhanced Membership Rewards bonuses and additional travel-related perks.

The most generous offer applies to the American Express Platinum Card.

New Platinum Card members can receive rewards worth up to £600.

This includes Membership Rewards points valued at £350 and £250 in American Express Travel credit, and is available to applicants who meet the spending requirements and eligibility criteria.

To qualify for the Platinum Card welcome bonus, new members must spend £6,000 within their first six months of card membership.

Those who meet the threshold will receive 75,000 Membership Rewards points, which American Express values at £350.

In addition to the points, eligible cardholders receive £250 in American Express Travel credit, which can be used on pre-paid bookings made through Amex Travel Online.

Eligible purchases include flights, hotels, car hire, cruises and holiday packages.

Platinum Card members also earn additional rewards when booking travel.

Cardholders receive two Membership Rewards points for every pound spent through the Amex Travel platform.

Beyond the introductory offer, the Platinum Card includes a range of ongoing benefits, which include £400 in global dining statement credits.

Cardholders also receive complimentary airport lounge access through Priority Pass, with worldwide travel insurance included as part of the card package.

The Platinum Card carries an annual fee of £650.

The sign-up offer is only available to customers who have not held an American Express Membership Rewards card in the past year.

American Express has also introduced a boosted welcome offer on its Gold Card, where new Gold Card members can earn Membership Rewards points valued at £200.

The bonus applies to applicants who meet the required spending target.

To unlock the Gold Card bonus, cardholders must spend £5,000 within their first six months who qualify, will receive 40,000 Membership Rewards points.

This is double the standard welcome bonus typically offered on the card.

One of the key features of the Gold Card is its introductory fee structure – and there’s no annual fee during the first year of membership.

After the first year, an annual fee of £195 applies.

The Gold Card also includes several ongoing benefits, with cardholders receiving £10 back on Deliveroo orders each month.

The card includes four complimentary airport lounge visits per year through Priority Pass.

Gold Card members can also access selected benefits through The Hotel Collection.

Both the Platinum and Gold Card offers require applications to be approved by January 13.

American Express has confirmed that applications submitted after this date will not qualify for the enhanced bonuses.

Existing American Express cardholders can also earn rewards through the company’s referral programme.

The referral offers are available until the same January 13 deadline.

Platinum Card members who successfully refer a friend can earn 20,000 Membership Rewards points.

Referred friends who are approved for the Platinum Card can receive 85,000 points, but must spend £6,000 within their first three months to qualify.

Referred Platinum Card applicants also receive £250 in American Express Travel credit.

Gold Card holders can also benefit from referrals.

They receive 16,000 Membership Rewards points for each successful referral, who can earn 45,000 points.

To qualify, referred Gold Card members must spend £5,000 within their first six months.

American Express places a cap on referral earnings.

Cardholders can earn a maximum of 90,000 Membership Rewards points per calendar year through referrals.

The company said all promotional offers are subject to approval and standard eligibility checks.

Customers considering applying have been advised to review the full terms and conditions before submitting an application.
