For those who find present wrapping and unwrapping a little tedious, Aldi has created something rather extraordinary for the festive season: the world’s first lickable pigs in blankets wrapping paper.

The supermarket’s innovative paper, priced at £2.49 for a 250g pack, features special peel-back stickers that release the distinctive taste of the seasonal staple.

It’s inspired by Aldi’s Specially Selected Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets, which recently won Good Housekeeping’s Christmas 2025 Best Pigs in Blankets award.

With Britons set to consume a whopping 561 million pigs in blankets this Christmas – roughly 10 per person – Aldi’s timing couldn’t be better.

The paper doesn’t just taste like the festive favourite, it smells like it too, creating an immersive sensory experience for gift recipients (and wrappers).

The eye-catching wrapping paper comes in a “charming” pastel pink shade decorated with holly and snowflake patterns.

It captures the exact “smoky, savoury” flavour of Aldi’s beloved product, with stickers that peel back to reveal a “truly unique, lickable experience”.

Britons can get their hands on this limited-edition wrapping paper through an exclusive competition.

To enter, pigs in blankets fans can simply send an email to [email protected] with their full name.

With limited quantities available, the contest is certainly worth entering if you fancy giving your loved ones a gift to remember this Christmas.

Celebrating the festive innovation, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, Julie Ashfield, said: “Pigs in Blankets are a highlight of the festive season and following our Good Housekeeping award win for the new Specially Selected Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets, we wanted to create something special to celebrate the Christmas classic.

“This unique, lickable wrapping paper is the perfect way to spread extra joy on Christmas Day.”

Professional gift wrapper, Louise Lewis, added: “Wrapping a gift isn’t just about neat corners; it’s about creating a little moment of magic before it’s even opened.

“Aldi’s Lickable Pigs in Blankets paper adds a playful touch that makes even the smallest gift an experience worth remembering.”

In the lead-up to Christmas, Aldi has also introduced three “divisive yet delicious” festive cheeses, with the supermarket embracing the “so wrong, it’s right” philosophy.

Featuring combinations that sound more like desserts than traditional cheeseboard offerings, shoppers can look forward to hints of white chocolate, caramel, and even pineapple.
