The Princess of Wales sent a personal message of support to England’s rugby league squads as they prepare to launch their World Cup campaign in Australia.
Catherine issued the rally cry to the men’s, women’s, and wheelchair teams ahead of the tournament kicking off down under.
Writing in a post this morning, the Princess said: “Wishing the England Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair Rugby League teams the very best as they travel to Australia for the Rugby League World Cup.
“Good luck to all the players, coaches and support staff representing England on the world stage.”
The Royal patronage of British sport remains central to Catherine’s public work.
She took on the high-profile roles of patron for both the Rugby Football League (RFL) and the Rugby Football Union (RFU) in February 2022.
The appointments came after the positions were vacated by Prince Harry following his decision to step back from duties as a working royal in 2020.
Since taking over, the Princess has been an active champion for the sport, hosting receptions for squad members, attending major fixtures, and championing the growth of the women’s and disability formats.
Her latest message comes as all three national sides land in Australia, targeting silverware on foreign soil.
The tournament features the men’s, women’s, and wheelchair editions running alongside each other, pitching England against the world’s finest rugby league talent.
The men’s side begin their group stage journey in Perth against a powerful Tonga team, looking to build momentum and reach the final stages in Brisbane.
LATEST ROYAL DEVELOPMENTS
England’s women open their campaign against local rivals Wales before facing host nation and tournament favourites Australia in a crucial clash.
Meanwhile, the wheelchair team enter the competition aiming to defend their global dominance following their dramatic World Cup triumph on home soil.
With matches scheduled across major venues in Perth, Wollongong, Sydney, and Brisbane, British fans face early morning starts to catch the action.
