Meghan Markle has ruled out writing a memoir despite receiving multiple lucrative publishing offers, according to sources.

The Duchess of Sussex had previously indicated during a podcast appearance last year that she intended to write her own book, following the commercial triumph of Prince Harry’s Spare.

However, the couple are now said to be steering clear of such projects to prevent further fallout.

A source told OK! Magazine: “Meghan and Harry are cautious about everything they do and say to uphold the standards of the monarchy. Those [memoirs] are the types of projects they don’t want to do.”

While Harry’s memoir became one of the fastest-selling non-fiction titles ever published, it generated significant controversy surrounding the royal family, particularly regarding his reported rift with Prince William.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now determined to steer clear of similar disputes.

The source told OK! Magazine: “They do the best they can not to upset the royals.

“Everyone who goes into business with them knows there are constraints, but it hurts the project’s creativity.

“They are adamant about having creative control and final edit and what they can’t say limits things.”

This approach means potential collaborators must accept limitations on content from the outset.

The Duchess is no stranger to the publishing world, having released her children’s book The Bench in June 2021, roughly a year after she and Harry relocated from Britain to America.

Published shortly after Princess Lilibet’s birth, the title achieved considerable success, earning a place on The New York Times Bestsellers list in the children’s picture book category.

Sources suggest that publishing remains an area where Meghan continues to hold influence.

Harry’s own literary venture followed less than two years later with Spare, which, despite its commercial success, created lasting tensions with the Royal Family.
