A former Royal Household official has spoken exclusively to GB News about his family’s ongoing ties to the monarchy, expressing pride that his son has maintained a strong professional connection to the Royal Family.

Squadron Leader Adam Fox-Edwards, former Assistant to the Master of the Household, revealed that his son, Harry Fox-Edwards, has established a successful career auctioning iconic ex-royal vehicles.

According to Mr Fox-Edwards, the late Queen Elizabeth II “would have been proud” to see the father and son duo appearing together in the Channel 5 television series, Buckingham Palace: A Year in the Life, exploring the history and heritage of royal motoring.

Detailing his son’s career path, Mr Fox-Edwards explained how Harry transitioned from motorsport instruction into high-end vehicle auctioneering: “My son is a specialist car auctioneer. He’s always been keen on cars, and he’s got his dream job.

“So after university he was a racing car instructor, had a track experience day, then joined Bonhams, the auctioneers, and now he’s a specialist car auctioneer.”

The connection to royal motoring began when an acquaintance acquired a Range Rover previously driven by the late monarch.

“He sold a Range Rover that was driven by the Queen, and a friend of his bought it for not much money,” Mr Fox-Edwards told the People’s Channel.

“He realised it was the Queen’s car, asked my son Harry to prove its provenance, which he did, and then got publicity to sell it at auction.”

The high-profile sale subsequently caught the attention of television producers after media coverage highlighting the vehicle’s royal history.

“They sold it for £150,000 at auction, which was well in excess, as in many, many times, what the chap had paid for it,” Mr Fox-Edwards noted.

“So there was some publicity at the time because my son had organised some publicity, which is why the TV company spotted him and then interviewed him. Then he said, ‘Oh, by the way, my dad used to work at Buckingham Palace, and he flew past it.’ So that was the connection.”

Since then, the auction house has handled multiple high-profile vehicles formerly belonging to members of the Royal Family.

LATEST ROYAL DEVELOPMENTS

“His company has sold three ex-royal cars throughout the country,” Mr Fox-Edwards stated. “They sold Princess Diana’s car for, I think, £300,000. I mean, as an old car, it’d be worth very little, but because of who owned it, it went very well. They sold the Queen’s Range Rover, and I think they sold another royal Audi, which is featured on the TV show.”

The Channel 5 television series features both father and son offering insight into the unique modifications made to royal vehicles to facilitate official duties.

Mr Fox-Edwards shared his own personal experience with a royal automobile during his service at Buckingham Palace.

“In the TV series, he talks about the royal cars and modifications that were made for them to make them suitable for royal duties,” he explained.

“I also talk about it because I was lent one of the royal cars at the end of my time there, and I had the use of the Royal Daimler for the weekend. In the one I used, there was a special modification in the armrest, which was for the Queen’s handbag, and that’s in the TV show as well.”

Reflecting on their joint media appearance, Mr Fox-Edwards emphasised the pride he feels regarding their shared heritage: “I’m very proud of the fact that father and son are both connected to the Royal Family in that way, and are both here on the same TV programme.”

Buckingham Palace: A Year in the Life is airing on Saturdays at 9:15pm on Channel 5.
