Tory minister Matt Vickers has slammed Kanye West being set to take the headline slot at Wireless Festival later this year.

The Shadow Minister of State for Illegal Immigration, Crime, Policing and Fire told GB News Mr West had said “some horrific, vile things” and “should not be allowed to perform”.

Pacing the US rapper’s comments in the context of recent attacks on the British Jewish community, Mr Vickers said a “strong signal” was needed to show that “we will not allow these people into the country to preach that hate”.

“I’m a free speech advocate… But the moment that free speech extends to abuse and to hatred, it causes people to fear leaving their own homes. There is a line. This is the line. We need to hold the line.”
