The DVSA has taken immediate action against people attempting to take tests away from learner drivers after rolling out new rules earlier this week.
Just three days after confirming new rules for booking driving tests, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has targeted people breaking its rules.
On June 9, it rolled out new rules, meaning learner motorists can only move their test to the three nearest test centres, rather than any centre around the UK.
Since then, the DVSA has cancelled 450 driving tests booked outside the new rules and placed 4,034 online booking suspensions on the system.
Its commitment to tougher action against misuse comes as the agency takes steps to make the driving test booking system fairer.
At the end of March, it announced that people would only be able to make two changes to their driving test booking, rather than the previous six changes.
Further rule changes in May stated that only drivers could book and manage a test, while also banning the use of unofficial services to search the booking service for tests.
The new rules protect learners from exploitation and allow the DVSA to identify where rules are being broken.

Roads and Buses Minister Simon Lightwood said: “Learners should be focusing on getting test-ready, not fighting an unfair booking system or paying over the odds to third-party touts.
“These new rules are helping to ensure driving tests go to the people who genuinely need them, rather than being snapped up and resold for profit.”
The Labour MP for Wakefield and Rothwell praised the DVSA’s action to cancel “dodgy” tests that have broken its rules.

DVSAHe said the strong action would send a “clear message” to people attempting to exploit learner drivers and profit from driving test bookings.
The DVSA delivered more than 240,000 additional tests between June 2025 and May 2026 compared to the same time period the year prior.
It has also been supported by drafting in driving examiners from the army to help deliver more tests for learner motorists.
DVSA chief executive Beverley Warmington said the agency had acted on its promise to make the driving test booking system fairer for learners.

PAShe added: “These reforms were about making sure that driving tests go to genuine learners, not to those who profit from exploiting them.
“Today’s action demonstrates that we have the tools and the determination to enforce the new rules.”
In total, 17 apps have been removed from the app stores and social media accounts after the DVSA reported evidence of test reselling on various platforms.
The DVSA also warned learners that they could have their personal details compromised if they share data with unofficial platforms.
