Former ITV regular and This Morning contributor Emma Kenny has unleashed a fierce response to Good Morning Britain star Adil Ray after he appeared to endorse Sharia law on social media last week.

Mr Ray, who regularly fronts the ITV breakfast show, is said to have been “hauled in” by “very cross” GMB bosses last week after he suggested the rollout of Sharia law in the West wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing.

His X posts came as he celebrated the New York mayoral victory of Zohran Mamdani, the city’s first-ever Muslim mayor.

Taking to the social media platform on November 5, Mr Ray posted: “Some say Mamdani may implement Sharia Law. He might.

“The heart of Sharia is social justice, welfare, fairness, charity and cohesion. Most Muslim countries operate a hybrid of Sharia & civil law, are slowly reforming and abandoning unethical practices despite the West’s portrayal.”

Following a flood of backlash, the ITV presenter returned to the site on November 7 to try and clarify his comments.

In a separate post, he penned: “To clarify. I am not actually suggesting Mamdani would implement ‘Sharia law’.

“But many of the issues he campaigned for are also some of the positive values of Sharia that Muslims try to live by. Something many of us would agree on.”

The suggestion and subsequent clarification from Mr Ray did little to allay the fury coming his way, with GB News stars Patrick Christys and Emily Carver just two public figures to openly criticise his remarks during Friday’s episode of Tonight with Patrick Christys.

And now, someone who used to be a regular on the same channel Mr Ray appears on has hit out. Ms Kenny took to her own X page to publicly ridicule the GMB star’s stance.

Ms Kenny sarcastically penned: “Just some light stoning, a pinch of beheading and a little touch of female subjugation…..what’s not to like?” (sic)

The author, presenter, and therapist will be a familiar face to many This Morning viewers, although she’s been absent from the show in recent years.

Ms Kenny claims she lost work following the Covid pandemic after sharing her views on lockdown and government restrictions.

In now-deleted posts, Ms Kenny declared she would ignore government guidelines and advice about protecting against coronavirus in the run-up to Christmas.

She came under fire for tweeting at the time: “I’m going to have parties, see my friends, invite EVERYONE around!” (sic)

Speaking with Johnny Seifert on the Secure The Insecure podcast, Ms Kenny admitted that she suffered financially after being dropped and she eventually consulted a crisis manager.

According to the Mirror, Ms Kenny said: “I was cancelled. So it wasn’t a thing of, ‘I might be.’ It happened.

“And it’s the reality of working in a field where there is a safe space that you are allowed to remain in. And if you step outside of that, there are consequences…

“When I started to speak out, it was really difficult because I started to get all my contracts cancelled.

“And then my husband, who is a very lovely man, he also knew that I was the person that really brings the income in…

To clarify. I am not actually suggesting Mamdani would implement “sharia law”. But many of the issues he campaigned for are also some of the positive values of Sharia that Muslims try to live by. Something many of us would agree on.

“I was told by a crisis manager to do things like take the vaccine live on TV. And I basically said that the consequence of that for me would be the end of my mental health.

“And also the end of my credibility as a human being for myself,” she added.

GB News has contacted Mr Ray’s representatives previously for comment on the saga.

Ms Kenny regularly uses her social media page to share her opinions on topical issues. She recently ripped apart the government’s digital ID proposals, calling it “the end of freedom”.
