The British woman who came second to a biological male in the World’s Strongest Woman competition has spoken to GB News about the “dishonesty and deception” surrounding the competition.

American competitor Jammie Booker, who was born male, initially secured first place ahead of Britain’s Andrea Thompson, until details of her biological sex were revealed.

Thompson, 43, told the People’s Channel that she initially congratulated the competitor.

She added: “We had no reason to suspect anything else. She deceived, and it was a lot of deception and dishonesty.”

The Briton added: “The things that came afterwards, it was just a bit of a shock to everybody.

“I think the only person to blame here is that competitor themselves.

“The organisers had no idea. None of the other athletes had any idea.

“There was no other speculation around their gender at all.”

Thompson, who admitted she is reaching the end of her career, believes her moment on the first-place podium was robbed from her.

Speaking on not getting the winning moment, she said: “Absolutely.

“It was completely robbed of me.”

“It wasn’t just my place that she took from me; it was the lady who came fourth who missed that third-place podium.”

Thompson addded: “There was a lady who came 11th that missed out the opportunity to do the third final day to be top 10 in the world.

“And all the qualification process that she had to go through, she’s knocked somebody else off that position to be able to compete at this competition.

“So it is a massive public effect that she’s caused. Lots of people have been affected by, not just me.”

The athlete vowed to defend other women and to ensure equality and fairness within the sport.

Since the verdict, the event organisers revealed they had “disqualified” Booker and were “unaware” of the athlete’s gender status.

A statement read: “We wanted to provide an update on what is happening following the Official Strongman Games World Championships 2025 which were held in Arlington, Texas over the weekend.

“It appears that an athlete who is biologically male and who now identifies as female competed in the Women’s Open category.

“Official Strongman officials were unaware of this fact ahead of the competition and we have been urgently investigating since being informed.

“An attempt has been made to contact the competitor involved but a response has not been received.”

The organisation added that if they were aware of Booker’s gender identity, “this athlete would not have been permitted to compete in the Women’s Open category”.
