Taylor Swift has unveiled four brand-new tracks as part of The Life Of A Showgirl: The Encore, an expanded version of her record-breaking 2025 album.
The 36-year-old billionaire singer’s latest release features Patient Zero, Pink Clouding, Babylon, and Cleveland!, with the latter appearing to be a nod to her husband Travis Kelce’s Ohio roots.
Swifties have wasted no time dissecting the new material, with widespread conviction that Patient Zero serves as a thinly veiled attack on her former partner, English actor Joe Alwyn.
Ms Swift and Mr Alwyn were together for six years between 2017 and early 2023, making it her longest and most private romance.

Engagement rumours swirled throughout their time together, though neither party ever confirmed them publicly.
The track draws notable parallels with You’re Losing Me, her 2022 song widely interpreted as being about Mr Alwyn, which similarly employed medical language.
Where that earlier release featured the lyrics “I can’t find a pulse, my heart won’t start anymore,” Patient Zero incorporates a pulse sound in its production and includes the line: “When the toxins take their hold / You’d rather die than let it go.”
Fans have also spotted links to another song believed to be about Mr Alwyn, 2019’s Cruel Summer.

In that track, Ms Swift described her subject as “grinning like a devil,” while Patient Zero sees her sing about “the devil on his shoulder under his halo.”
The new single also appears to depict a fame-hungry former lover basking in her spotlight, with Ms Swift singing: “I know it seems like he shines bright / But he’s bathing in your reflected light / On a free social climb.”
The accompanying music video features Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson, with its Irish setting carrying particular significance: Ms Swift and Mr Alwyn lived together in Dublin during the filming of Conversations With Friends, and allegedly spent £50,000 hiring Glin Castle in County Limerick for a six-day Christmas break in 2018.
Mr Alwyn is now rumoured to be in a relationship with Love Story actress Sarah Pidgeon, prompting fans to interpret the song as a warning to his new partner.

One user on wrote on X: “Streets saying patient zero is basically a diss track that ‘warns’ Sarah Pidgeon about Joe Alwyn.” (sic)
The notoriously private actor addressed their split in 2024, describing the relationship as “long, loving, fully committed” and expressing hope that “anyone and everyone can empathise and understand the difficulties that come with the end” of such a partnership.
Meanwhile, Cleveland! has reduced fans to tears with its apparent declaration of love for Mr Kelce.
Ms Swift appears to refer to the NFL star as the “love of my life” in the track, with one lyric, “But my baby likes what he likes / He already took me to Cleveland / and showed me The Heights”, seemingly nodding to his New Heights podcast.
Another line, “Now I’m wearing white so hate all you like,” appears to celebrate their marriage.
Pink Clouding has a more remorseful tone, with Ms Swift appearing to apologise to a former partner.
She sings: “I hope you realised my kind of trouble wasn’t worth it / And the way I treated you, you never deserved it / And I swear to God, to this day / I wake up scared that I left scars on a good person.”
Fans compared the track’s sound to her 2014 album 1989.

The fourth new addition, Babylon, explores themes of longing and the danger of dwelling on the past.
Ms Swift sings: “You’re using nostalgia as a weapon to hurt yourself / But darling you end up hurting everybody else.”
One fan on X declared it “the most Taylor Swift song there ever was.”
Excitement had already been building since Thursday, when the singer revealed new cover artwork showing what appeared to be a different engagement ring, a solitaire-cut stone on a silver band, replacing her original vintage diamond set in 18k yellow gold from Artifex Fine Jewellery.
On Wednesday, Ms Swift thanked fans on Instagram for giving The Life of a Showgirl “the biggest first week for an album in history.”
