A huge device suspected to be a bomb dropped during World War Two has been moved to a field to be denotated a day after it was discovered in a Cheshire village.

Macclesfield Police moved the munition earlier from Priest Lane in Mottram St Andrew after it was found on Sunday, prompting an evacuation of residents from nearby properties.

A police spokeswoman said the device would be “safely detonated” later.

She warned there could be “more than one controlled explosion” as bomb disposal teams work to make it safe.
