A violent Sudanese prisoner on the loose after absconding on a hospital visit has been arrested, police have said.
Marwan Jumaa, 20, escaped as he was being transferred to hospital to receive medical treatment.
Greater Manchester Police then launched a days-long manhunt for the offender and confirmed he was brought back into custody last night.
Jumaa was serving an indefinite sentence in a secure hospital facility after previously being convicted of two robberies, which saw two women and police officers receive serious injuries.
GB News can disclose that Jumaa, a Sudanese national who appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court last year, does not have indefinite leave to remain in Britain.
Britain’s News Channel can also reveal that Jumaa was being kept at HMP Belmarsh in south London while being treated at a secure hospital unit in the Greater Manchester area.
Police sources said that his sentence was split between prison and hospital for treatment.
It is not known what condition he was being treated for at the secure hospital facility or at North Manchester General Hospital.

A Greater Manchester Police statement in the early hours of Friday said: “Thank you to everyone who shared and responded to our appeal earlier this evening to help locate wanted man Marwan Jumaa.
“Following extensive enquiries, we can confirm that Jumaa has been arrested by our colleagues at Lancashire Constabulary. He is currently in their custody.”
Detective Superintendent Nicola McCulloch, of GMP’s serious crime division, said: “This has been a fast-paced investigation which has involved a significant number of officers and resources from Greater Manchester Police.
“An observant Lancashire Constabulary officer recognised Jumaa and acted swiftly to arrest him. He will now be returned to a secure hospital facility.

“I would like to thank the public for their support following our appeal. Our call handlers received a considerable amount of information from members of the public and that assistance has been invaluable in helping us locate Jumaa.
“We are extremely grateful for the support shown throughout this investigation.”
Jumaa was deemed a risk to both himself and others.
GMP’s Detective Chief Inspector Abigail Cronin had earlier appealed to the public to help them find the 20-year-old.
Police had also shared footage of Jumaa casually leaving the hospital.
“We are urging anybody to come forward who may have information about Marwan’s whereabouts,” DCI Cronin said.
“I recognise that this may heighten concern within the community. However, I want to assure you that we have officers working around the clock to find Marwan and return him to hospital as soon as possible.
Court records show that in January this year Jumaa pleaded guilty to three offences at Woolwich Crown Court.
The offences, all committed on July 17 last year in London, were assaulting an emergency worker, a police officer, the robbery of a woman and inflicting grievous bodily harm on a second woman
