Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan says he is proud to have beaten Jos Buttler’s record for Lancashire’s fastest ever T20 half-century.

Shadab took just 19 balls to achieve the feat in Lancashire’s four-run win away to Derbyshire Falcons, bettering the mark set by Buttler and Matty Hurst off 20 balls.

He eventually was out for 58 off only 22 with six fours and four sixes and took 3-42 with his leg-breaks as the Red Rose secured the four points to re-ignite their T20 Blast season with a third straight victory.

“If I beat Jos, it’s amazing,” Shadab told Radio Lancashire.

“It’s a proud moment for me because we’ve had legends of the game play for Lancashire. Now it’s my record and hopefully I’ll break my own.”

Shadab has arrived as an overseas replacement for the latter stages of the T20 Blast for injured Australian Chris Green.

“Lancashire is one of the biggest clubs in the country so it was a no-brainer when the opportunity came,” Shadab said.

“I always enjoy it here. The Blast is one of the best and one of my favourite tournaments to play.”
