Martin Kemp’s son Roman has shared his frustration with ITV over his dad’s seeming lack of airtime on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

The Spandau Ballet star, 64, was one of the big names announced to be taking part in this year’s show, but hasn’t exactly become a stand-out personality on the reality series.

TV personality Roman, 32, has been complaining on social media about his dad’s lack of presence on camera, and last night posted a sarcastic statement after one of My Kemp’s conversations was aired on the show.

He posted: “My dad had an actual conversation on camera!!! #ImACelebrity,” along with a Gif of I’m A Celeb presenter Declan Donnelly celebrating on the show’s famous bridge.

Fans have been airing the same disappointment about Mr Kemp, and promptly responded to Roman’s post.

One penned: “Yeah. about time too. He’s pure gold.”

“So frustrating that there’s been such little footage of him… Even when there was karaoke he was overshadowed by the others singing,” a second shared.

Another echoed: “It’s so unfair Roman, we aren’t seeing much of him at all @imacelebrity @realmartinkemp please.”

“#ImACelebrity Can we see him for once? What’s the point of you paying money and not see him even communicate with the other campmates,” someone else pleaded.

A different viewer added: “I feel so bad he’s not getting loads of screen time. He seems like a lovely man.”

“I agree, Roman, I feel he has been awol quite a lot in this series, not enough screen time, it’s the edits,” another commented.

Others disagreed with Roman, though, and claimed his dad had been given plenty of screen time. (sic)

“Never seen him so much on the TV, Roman,” one argued, with another asking: “What do you mean? He’s had loads of conversations on camera.”

Mr Kemp’s wife, Shirlie, has also addressed her husband’s lack of airtime on the show, but instead attributed it more to her other half’s nature.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, she said: “I think Martin’s been quite quiet, though, because I think that’s who he is. He’s quite quiet, and he likes to listen. So sometimes I want to say, ‘Martin, come on, do more.'”

The couple have been married since 1988, and Ms Kemp has travelled to Australia to support her husband throughout the competition.

Ms Kemp went as far as requesting that producers put Mr Kemp forward for more Bushtucker Trials during the remaining days of the series.

She explained to Ms Kelly that her husband’s easygoing nature means the public isn’t selecting him for the gruelling challenges.

“He’s not doing anything to annoy anyone, so no one’s voting him to do a horrible trial,” she noted.
