Residents in the UK’s “happiest place to live” have told GB News why they believe their town scooped the top title.

Speaking to Yorkshire and Humberside reporter Anna Riley, residents said of Skipton: “Skipton is great, there’s chatty people everywhere you go. I’m a non-Skipton local that moved here, and I feel welcomed.”

Another lady told GB News: “I was born and bred here in Skipton, so it’s my hometown. I absolutely love it. The people are fantastic, the people are so friendly and it’s just the happiest place to be.

“You can walk down the high street and there’s always someone you know. Everybody says hello, everybody’s welcoming. It’s just a great place to be.”
