Reform UK have pledged to cut energy bills by £250 a year within their first 100 days in government if they win the next General Election.
Richard Tice, the party’s Deputy Leader, set out policy on electricity and gas bills, scrapping carbon taxes on generators and permanently removing VAT from consumer energy bills.
The plan includes removing the tax on gas generators from the UK Emissions Trading Scheme and the Carbon Price Support. It was announced today in a speech at the Reform UK’s 2026 National Conference.
Mr Tice also set out the party’s intention to repeal a number of policies which they claim will increase gas and electricity bills, such as the Renewables Obligation, Feed-in Tariffs, Warm Homes Discount and Green Gas Levy.
They say these represent an extra £80 on household energy bills.
Mr Tice said: “Households have been squeezed year after year, despite the fact that the wholesale price of gas has fallen since 2022.
“Successive Conservative and Labour governments have layered cost upon cost onto consumer bills in the name of Net Zero, with little regard to the struggles of the British billpayer that bears them.
“The cost of energy in the UK represents a national crisis.
“And as such, a Reform UK government would take extraordinary measures to bring costs down, restore fairness to the energy sector, and take urgent action within 100 days of taking office to put an extra £250 a year back into your pockets.”

PAThe pledge comes as Mr Farage’s top team use the conference to outline a plan of what they wish to achieve in their first 100 days of governance.
The Reform UK leader said ministers who do not meet their pledges in the timeframe “will be sacked”.
The conference is attended by thousands of delegates over the course of the three days in the Midlands.
Mr Farage has announced if he were to become prime minister following a general election, he would declare a national emergency on his first day.
The party leader spoke today, highlighting “the dire state the country was left in by successive Labour and Conservative governments”.
He suggested time is running out to save the UK and warned the country “doesn’t have 10 years to be saved”.
Mr Farage declared he will make Parliament “sit day and night” until legislation is passed, even forcing MPs to attend throughout summer for seven days a week.
This afternoon, he also made stopping the boats the focus, striking a “memorandum” with Jordan Bardella as they vow to stop small boats “forever”.
The conference comes after a tricky summer for the party, with Mr Farage under scrutiny over the party’s finances and a dip in the polls following Andy Burnham’s takeover in No10.
Just before the conference began in full swing, his party became the centre of a new donations scandal on Thursday night, involving a group of undercover investigative journalists posing as an American businessman.
Foreign donations to British political parties are illegal and Channel 4 News broadcasted a video of Mr Farage celebrating the donations, which were to fund JL Partners’ opinion polling.
Reform UK has now been reported to the Metropolitan Police, who say they will assess any information given to them, but the party denies any wrongdoing.
