Queen Camilla stands at the forefront of an “anti-York faction” within the Royal Family, according to a source.

A royal insider stated that the King’s wife played a pivotal role in urging her husband to take action against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in the aftermath of the Epstein scandal.

The source told the Mail regarding the Queen’s position on Andrew: “She took a back seat on the scandal for quite a while out of deference to the King’s familial loyalties and to his health.

“But as the King’s health has improved, she was instrumental in pushing him to act.”

Evidence of potential tensions surfaced recently when Queen Camilla’s name was notably absent from a congratulatory message issued by King Charles’s office when announcing Princess Eugenie’s pregnancy.

The source added that Princess Eugenie chose to reveal her pregnancy to King Charles through an Easter card paired with a thoughtfully composed letter.

The decision to inform her uncle in this manner came after Zara Tindall, her cousin and one of only a handful of people aware of the news, encouraged her to reach out to the monarch directly.

Eugenie and her husband Jack had been weighing up whether to announce the news through the media independently, without Palace involvement.

However, the couple found themselves pleasantly surprised by the reaction they received.

“She and Jack were quite surprised by the warmth of the Palace response,” a well-placed source told the Mail.

The King subsequently reached out personally and instructed officials to issue a formal announcement.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the pregnancy through a social media post on the official Royal Family account last week.

The statement said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer.

“August (aged 5) and Ernest (aged 2) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family.

“His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.”
