Tony Botteley, owner of The Whippet Inn Micropub in Lichfield told GB News he is “barely breaking even” as he hit out at Rachel Reeves’s Budget.

Speaking to GB News reporter Jack Carson, he said: “I think it’s sort of disappointment, but I’m not surprised by anything I’ve heard today.

“I mean, there has been a bit of tinkering around the edges with business rate relief, but ultimately the liability for a place like this, to give you an example, I’ve tripled turnover since I took this place over three years ago, and I’m barely breaking even.

“And it’s the liability, It’s the increased costs of running this place. My electricity bill this month is £500.”
