The Princess Royal attended a ceremonial gun salute in Hyde Park today to commemorate three years since the King’s coronation.

Anne observed the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery perform their traditional military display before conducting an inspection of the regiment.

Mounted soldiers departed from their central London base to arrange their artillery pieces within the park for the occasion.

The Gunners appeared in their distinctive ceremonial attire, featuring gold-braided jackets and busby headwear.

At noon, a 41-gun royal salute was discharged using six 13-pounder field guns dating from the First World War, transported into position by 71 horses.

Prior to the salute commencing, two artillery personnel guided a mother duck and her half-dozen ducklings to safety, escorting them across the grass away from the noise.

The Honourable Artillery Company discharged a 62-gun salute at the Tower of London at 1pm as part of the commemorations.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla underwent their Coronation in a religious service at Westminster Abbey on 6 May 2023.

The Princess Royal’s inspection served to verify the regiment’s preparedness for an intensive period of ceremonial engagements this summer.

Their next significant duty involves firing the minute gun at the State Opening of Parliament, scheduled for next week.

It comes as The King and Queen are set to join a landmark celebration at the Royal Albert Hall next week, marking half a century since The King’s Trust was established.

The special gala brings together the charity’s ambassadors, former beneficiaries, staff members and volunteers for an evening honouring five decades of youth support work.

Television presenters Ant and Dec will serve as hosts for the occasion, greeting the royal couple upon their arrival on the red carpet.

The event celebrates the countless achievements of young people who have benefited from the organisation’s programmes throughout its 50-year history.

Throughout the evening, the King and Queen will have the opportunity to meet this year’s award recipients alongside those presenting the honours.

The royal couple will also spend time with Trust ambassadors and performers taking part in the celebration.

As the evening draws to a close, The King and Queen will take to the stage for a memorable finale.

A group photograph featuring all award winners will capture the occasion, followed by a traditional ‘three cheers’ moment involving the entire audience.
