Prince William is spending the evening in Birmingham to cheer on his beloved Aston Villa in their pivotal Europa League semi-final clash against Nottingham Forest.

The Prince of Wales was first spotted in the tunnel, where he managed to catch up with Villa boss Unai Emery and captain John McGinn.

Later, he was spotted conversing with England boss Thomas Tuchel, who is set to lead the Three Lions into the 2026 World Cup in the United States next month.

William is the Patron of the Football Association, Mr Tuchel’s employers.

Damian Vidagany, Aston Villa Director of Football Operations, also caught up with the heir to the throne, with the pair seen enjoying a humorous chat.

Prince George was a notable absence from the game tonight, having previously attended fixtures with his dad.

As the TV cameras panned to the Prince of Wales, commentator Ally McCoist joked: “We knew he’d be here!”

When the prince took his seat in the stands, he could be seen taking a long, drawn breath, indicating the significance of the evening.

Because the warm and light-hearted chat is set against the backdrop of a monumental occasion at Villa Park.

The Prince of Wales’s appearance at Villa Park has been more regular in recent seasons.

He is often seen sitting next to the owner and director of football for the club in a high vantage point.

However, he would rarely have experienced an atmosphere quite like tonight’s, with more than 40,000 Aston Villa supporters creating a ferocious and intimidating environment for the visitors.
