Prince Harry could be set to stay in the UK for “12 to 15 years”, while Meghan Markle may take on a more “international” role, according to reports.

GB News previously confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are sensationally moving back to the UK for “an extended period of time” after Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, were enrolled in British schools.

It had been suggested the King was only made aware of these plans on August 16, merely three days before the news was made public.

But according to new reports in the Daily Mail, the duke has long desired to bring his children up in an English school.

A source told the newspaper that the King has been “well aware” of Harry’s intentions and even that they were looking around schools – they are claimed to have been gaining prospectuses and speaking to headteachers “for years”.

It was previously reported that the Sussexes may only stay for six or 12 months, though the driving force behind the move was the education of their children.

And while an “extended period of time” can be interpreted in many different ways, Harry could be set for a much longer stay in his homeland, due to his devotion to his duties as a father.

“The way he sees it is that he will be here for the next 12 to 15 years, minimum,” a source told the newspaper.

“He sees himself as a full-time father and he will be here for them, spending every Saturday watching Archie play rugby. That is the agenda.

“He and Meghan are the best and most committed parents.”

The duke is said to be unequivocal in his wishes: “He wants them to be raised British, in Britain, and go to a public school.

“That is what the move is about.”

But while Harry may be anticipating staying for the long haul, it could be a different story for his wife Meghan, who has various business ventures back in California.

The outlet claims that the duchess will “come and go” from California, where she has her As Ever brand and the couple’s Archewell Productions offices are.

A friend told the paper that Meghan “will need to spend quite a bit of time in the US,” adding that she won’t be able to simply “dial in”.

The family are expected to spend Christmas in Montecito and also make use of school holidays to travel back to their home in California.
