The Duke of Edinburgh delivered a theatrical performance whilst slicing a large celebration cake at the British High Commission in Ghana during his official tour.

Prince Edward brandished the ceremonial knife above his head as an event host initiated a countdown from six.

When the count reached zero, the royal brought the blade down with gusto to slice through the confection.

The prince then raised the knife triumphantly whilst the assembled guests erupted in applause.

Unable to resist sampling the dessert, Edward helped himself to some of the icing.

Throughout the ceremony, the Duke displayed animated facial expressions, alternating between broad grins and exaggerated grimaces that delighted onlookers.

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, serving as both Minister for Trade and British High Commissioner to Ghana, positioned herself beside the prince throughout the spirited display.

The ceremony drew enthusiastic applause from attendees who witnessed the Duke’s lively approach to the task.

Photographs from the event documented Edward’s expressive demeanour, showing him pulling faces and beaming as he anticipated the moment to cut.

The images circulated widely on social media platforms, generating considerable positive feedback.

Royal watchers responded warmly to the Duke’s uninhibited display, with the ceremony sparking widespread discussion about his approachable manner during official engagements.

Social media users enthusiastically dubbed Prince Edward “the fun prince” following his animated display.

One observer praised his consistent dedication, stating: “The Duke does such wonderful work, and on this occasion, this is no different.

“He mostly flies under the radar with little to no fanfare. No fuss or bother. He is a great representative of the Monarchy. Much respect to him.”

An attendee who witnessed the celebration remarked: “I was there. He’s so down to earth, the pictures don’t do him justice.”

Others noted his playful demeanour, with one commenting: “Youngest child energy unlocked.”

Another drew comparisons to his late father, observing he was “just like his father”, Prince Philip.
