Prince Andrew “could be destroyed” by a cache of “more than 100 secret emails” linked to the duke being investigated by the US Congressional Oversight Committee, a source has claimed.

Lawmakers in the US, currently analysing files relating to the late disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, are now poised to release further documents.

Last week, the committee published findings from Epstein’s 50th birthday book and a string of emails from Lord Peter Mandelson to the convicted paedophile financier.

The disclosures, which included Lord Mandelson referring to Epstein as his “best pal,” ultimately led to him being sacked as Britain’s ambassador to Washington.

Democrat Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury, who sits on the Oversight Committee, has said she and her colleagues are investigating further documentation on Epstein.

“We are currently working on a list of additional documents, witnesses and others associated with these crimes that the committee intends to move a vote for subpoenaing,” she said.

This could mean that those named in the files could be asked to appear before US lawmakers for questioning, which a source suggested may include requests to Lord Mandelson and Prince Andrew.

“As UK citizens, they cannot be subpoenaed to testify but they can be invited, which is a polite word for Congress demanding they appear. They can refuse to appear, but it wouldn’t be a good look for either of them,” the source told the Mail on Sunday.

Other sources have suggested the looming disclosures could spell “destruction” for the Duke of York.

“If you think what’s happened to Peter Mandelson is bad, then you have no idea what will happen when the Andrew emails are released,” one told the Mail.

They claimed the findings would be “embarrassing” for Andrew, suggesting that: “He could be destroyed.”

Another source alleged there were further “emails between Andrew, Epstein and (Ghislaine) Maxwell which haven’t come out yet”.

Last week’s releases saw Lord Peter Mandelson sacked as Britain’s ambassador to Washington over his links to Epstein

Echoing the other informant, they continued: “If I were Andrew, I’d be very worried. Look what the emails did to Mandelson.”

They added that the duke was: “Mistaken if he thinks this matter is going away.”

Representatives of the Duke of York have been approached for comment by GB News.

Prince Andrew previously claimed he had cut ties with Epstein in December 2010, during his now infamous 2019 Newsnight interview.

The duke suggested he had last communicated with the disgraced financier while visiting his home in New York.

Last month, emails obtained by The Sunday Times appeared to challenge his account.

They suggested the pair may have remained in contact as late as 2015, with Andrew referred to as a source of recent information in an email by Epstein at the time.
