Patrick Christys has shared a heartwarming snap of himself and baby George, holding the infant up as he watched his mum, Emily Carver, return to GB News to cover Michael Portillo’s Sunday show.

Opening the programme, Emily told viewers: “It is an absolute pleasure to be back. Thank you for all your kind messages. I’ve received quite a few.”

She continued: “I’m not quite finished with maternity leave yet, but I have been getting withdrawal symptoms from being away from GB News viewers for so long. But what a day to come back, eh? So much news going around!”

The photo, posted on Sunday, shows Patrick holding George in the GB News greenroom, alongside the caption: “What’s Mum doing on the telly?!”

Fans quickly flooded the comments with support.

“Great to see Emily back on TV, she’s been missed,” one wrote, while another added: “Love this. Love the photo & that Daddy is supporting Mummy.”

A third said: “Sweet. Emily is one of my favourites on GB News.”

Another commented: “Emily, you were brilliant today. Love Daddy and baby George supporting you.”

“He was looking amazing, great to see her back. Can we have George on to do the news?” a fifth fan joked.

Emily has been off the air since starting maternity leave in August, stepping away from her regular Good Afternoon Britain slot alongside Tom Harwood.

In July 2025, Emily made an emotional admission on GB News as she prepared to begin her maternity leave.

The presenter told The People’s Channel that she was feeling “very emotional” about stepping away and would “miss her little interactions” with co-star Tom Harwood.

Patrick posted the picture alongside the caption ‘What’s Mum doing on the telly?!’

She explained: “As I approach maternity leave, I am thinking more about how I will miss our little interactions every day on a daily basis.

“Sometimes our viewers say that I’m a bit mean to Tom sometimes. What they don’t know is that there’s a real relationship. This is far too sentimental. Should we get on? I think I’m getting a bit emotional.”

She and Emily welcomed their first child, George, on Friday, September 5, 2025.

At the time, Emily described the birth as a “rollercoaster” on Instagram.

Later that month, the couple made a brief return to television on Breakfast to introduce George to viewers.

During the appearance, they spoke about the early weeks of parenthood.

Patrick said he was “so proud” of his wife, while Emily revealed she had been induced slightly early due to concerns that George was measuring small.

She described the labour as extremely painful, saying she eventually received an epidural, and confirmed George weighed six and a half pounds at birth.

Patrick told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Penny Smith he was “in awe” of his wife’s strength, praising her for enduring most of the labour with only minimal pain relief.

He also thanked GB News viewers for their support, joking that the gifts meant they would not need to buy baby clothes for months.
