Paul Flack, the elder brother of television presenter Caroline Flack, has died at the age of 55, six years following his sister’s suicide.

Mr Flack was discovered unresponsive at his residence on Sandringham Road in Norwich on June 21st. He was subsequently transported to Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, where he passed away.

Mr Flack worked as an artist and graphic designer. His death occurred just three days after he celebrated his 55th birthday, having been born in Enfield on 18 June 1971.

An inquest into Mr Flack’s death was opened yesterday at Norfolk Coroner’s Court, presided over by area coroner Yvonne Blake.

During the brief hearing, Ms Blake indicated that additional enquiries would be necessary before the full circumstances of his death could be established.

No evidence regarding the events leading to Mr Flack’s death was presented, with the proceedings limited to confirming his identity and the provisional medical cause of death.

The hearing was adjourned until October 23rd to allow for the gathering of further evidence.

Mr Flack is survived by his partner and two children.

Following Caroline’s death in February 2020 at her London residence aged 40, Mr Flack shared a childhood photograph of his younger sister on Instagram alongside a poignant message: “This will be my last post here.

“May those who know feel shame for eternity. Love you Caroline.”

This tribute remained the final post on his account.

Mr Flack subsequently appeared with his mother Christine and sister in the 2021 documentary Caroline Flack: Her Life and Death.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

The documentary examined the presenter’s struggles with mental health and the circumstances preceding her suicide.

The family has since campaigned for reforms to how vulnerable individuals are treated by the criminal justice system, media organisations and social media platforms.

Caroline Flack rose to become one of British television’s most recognisable presenters.

She hosted programmes such as Love Island, X Factor and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!, whilst also claiming victory on Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.

She grew up in East Wretham, Norfolk, alongside her twin sister Jody, Paul and elder sister Elizabeth.

A coroner subsequently ruled that Caroline had taken her own life.

In the years since her death, the Flack family has organised the annual Flackstock festival, which raises funds for mental health charities whilst honouring Caroline’s memory and legacy.

News of Mr Flack’s death prompted an outpouring of tributes on social media, with many remembering both him and his late sister.

“I have no words… rest in peace Paul and give your sister a massive hug,” one person wrote.

Another commented: “This is just too sad. Both together now.”

A third penned: “RIP Paul, may you spend eternity with Caroline and I send enormous strength to your mum and family.”

“R.I.P Paul. I’m so sad for your family”, said another.
