Drivers are being offered a massive new discount on the price of charging their electric cars at home, thanks to Octopus Energy and Andersen EV.
Motorists will benefit from six months of free electric vehicle charging if they buy a new Andersen EV device from March 1, 2026.
Analysis from Octopus Energy shows that this represents around 4,370 miles of free charging, as well as significant savings of £234 on electricity costs.
The offer has been launched in conjunction with the release of the new “26” number plate, which coincides with a huge spike in new vehicle sales.
Last March, data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) found that electric vehicles made up 69,313 sales, worth almost 20 per cent of the total market share.
Expectations are higher for 2026, with drivers benefitting from huge discounts from manufacturers, charging offers and the Electric Car Grant.
Labour’s incentive scheme helps drivers save up to £3,750 off the price of a new electric vehicle that costs £37,000 or less, with several popular models included, such as the Ford Puma Gen-E, Mini Countryman and Volkswagen ID.3.
Drivers looking to get their hands on the latest “25” number plate may choose to invest in an electric car this month.

David Martell, CEO of Andersen EV, said: “The March plate change remains one of the most significant moments in the UK motoring calendar and this offer will help encourage more motorists to make the switch to electric for their next car.
“This offer builds on our existing partnership with Octopus, which has already helped deliver thousands of low-cost miles for EV drivers across the UK.”
The Andersen EV incentive is being delivered through Octopus Energy’s Intelligent Octopus Go smart tariff, which charges EVs during off-peak periods using low-cost electricity.
Drivers can choose from Andersen EV’s full range of charging devices, including the award-winning A3, the A2 or the compact Andersen Quartz.

Customers are also able to customise their electric vehicle home charger to suit their needs or aesthetics.
Richard Sephton, head of EV partnerships at Octopus Energy, praised the new offer, adding that Andersen was accelerating the EV transition.
“By offering this as a bundled solution, EV drivers will unlock hundreds of pounds in annual savings that smart tariffs provide, delivering a premium charging experience that pays for itself,” Mr Sephton added.
It comes after the Government extended its grant scheme for drivers who want to install electric vehicle chargers at their homes.

Renters, flat owners, homeowners without driveways, and businesses have been backed with a new £500 grant to install an EV charger.
The updates will also simplify the grant process by reducing the number of incentives from eight to just five.
Decarbonisation Minister Keir Mather said: “We’re taking action to make EV ownership the affordable choice for everyone – not just those with driveways. Bigger grants mean families, flat owners, renters and small businesses can now install a charger for almost half the usual cost, with home charging costing as little as 2p a mile.”
The full list of grants will include discounts for renters and flat owners, residential landlords, households with on-street parking, schools and the Workplace Charging Scheme.
