The brother of Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher appeared in court on Friday, where he denied allegations of rape.

Paul Gallagher, 59, denied rape and a string of other charges at Southwark Crown Court.

He is accused of three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The alleged assaults took place between 2022 and 2024.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said in July: “Paul Gallagher, 59, of East Finchley, has been charged with rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

“The offences are reported to have taken place between 2022-2024. The charges follow an investigation which commenced in 2024. A woman is being supported by specially trained officers.”

The charges emerge whilst his younger brothers continue their highly publicised Oasis reunion performances across the UK.

The Metropolitan Police detailed eleven separate charges against Mr Gallagher following their year-long investigation.

Mr Gallagher is the eldest of the three brothers, being twelve months senior to Noel and seven years older than Liam.

The siblings spent their childhood together in Burnage, Manchester, before the younger two achieved global fame with Oasis.

During the hearing, Mr Gallagher formally denied each allegation put before him.

The proceedings mark a significant development in a case that has attracted considerable public attention given the defendant’s connection to the prominent musical family.

Amongst the allegations are three instances of sexual assault and an equal number of intentional strangulation offences.

The defendant also faces two charges of issuing death threats. The complete list of accusations includes the single rape charge alongside allegations of coercive and controlling behaviour.

The case has progressed through several court appearances since charges were first brought.

At Westminster Magistrates’ Court last month, Mr Gallagher attended a brief five-minute hearing where he confirmed his personal details but did not enter any pleas at that stage.

Today’s appearance represents the first time Mr Gallagher has formally responded to the allegations.

The court heard his not guilty pleas to all eleven charges before scheduling further proceedings.

A trial date has been scheduled for September 2027. The two-year period before trial is not uncommon for complex cases involving multiple serious charges.

The Metropolitan Police have emphasised that a woman connected to the case continues to receive assistance from officers with specialist training in supporting individuals involved in such investigations.

This support arrangement has been in place since the investigation began.

The case will return to court for pre-trial hearings in the intervening period.

Gallagher remains on bail following today’s proceedings at Harrow Crown Court, where he formally entered his not guilty pleas to all charges.
