A biographer of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has revealed he suffered an injury at home.
Andrew Lownie, who published Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York in August 2025, stuck to his planned promotional appearance via video link, despite having fallen down the stairs.
Mr Lownie told the Mail: “I did the event by Zoom on painkillers, having pulled muscles in my back falling down stairs on Friday and being unable to walk.”
The author’s book was notable for several claims about Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, who at that point still held the titles Duke of York and Prince.
For example, Mr Lownie alleged that Mr Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, knew the late financier Jeffrey Epstein for nearly a decade before the former duke’s admitted 1999 start date.
In addition, a notable claim involved a 2013 argument where Prince Harry allegedly gave Mr Mountbatten-Windsor a “bloody nose” after he disparaged the Duke of Sussex’s relationship with Meghan Markle.
However, the Sussexes’ spokesman set the record straight in a statement to GB News, saying: “I can confirm Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make the comments he is alleged to have made about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry.”

Mr Mountbatten-Windsor did not comment on the book’s allegations at the time, but released the following statement on October 17, 2025: “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.
“I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.
“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”
On October 30, a Buckingham Palace spokesman confirmed: “His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew.

“Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.
“Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.
“Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on February 19, 2026 on suspicion of misconduct in public office, and was subsequently released on investigation that evening.

King Charles issued the following statement at the time: “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office.
“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.
“Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
