Norwich City Football Club has paid tribute to a supporter who died after a medical emergency at Sunday’s game

A Norwich City fan has died following the club’s FA Cup fixture on Sunday.

In a statement posted on its X account, the club said the home supporter suffered a medical emergency shortly after its win against Walsall at Carrow Road.

The club thanked medical staff stewards and nearby supporters for assisting during the incident, and said it would “ensure those involved receive the appropriate care”.

“Everyone at Norwich City would like to send their heartfelt condolences to the supporter’s family and friends,” the club added.

The statement said the club would work with police to provide support “at this distressing time”.

The news was met with hundreds of supportive comments from football fans and groups, as well as Walsall supporters and East Anglian rivals Ipswich Town.

One wrote that the emergency services had attended the incident in the Regency Stand very quickly.

Walsall FC also posted on X: “The thoughts of everyone at Walsall Football Club are with the individual’s family and friends at this most difficult time.”
