The Reform UK leader Nigel Farage writes in the Daily Mail that the Green Party’s Zack Polanski “must face the consequences, external” for a controversial social media post, noting that he hass failed to apologise. He says if he had posted something on social media containing a threat to kill another party leader, he would have been arrested for incitement and drummed out of political life to loud media condemnations.

The Guardian, external quotes an unnamed senior Green Party figure as suggesting that Polanski should hand over the keys to his social media. But writing in the Times, Jawad Iqbal says Reform politicians “would do well to reflect on their own behaviour, external when it comes to toxic online commentary” and argues that “politicians of all stripes need to dial down the incendiary rhetoric”.

“World Cup for sale”, external is the headline in the Times as it reports Fifa’s plans to sell stakes in what it calls “football’s crown jewel”. The Sun claims that the plan would make millions, external for the Fifa boss Gianni Infantino – who it describes as “Trump’s pal”.

The Daily Mirror, external has a mock up image of Infantino as the Doctor Evil character from the spy comedy film Austin Powers – beside the caption, “World Domination”. Writing in the Daily Telegraph, Oliver Brown says “football must be saved, external from this megalomaniac”.

Reporting on Andy Burnham’s invitation to the Conservative and Liberal Democrat leaders for urgent talks on social care, the Daily Mirror, external quotes the prime minister as saying “we have to fix care together”.

The Guardian, external says the Conservatives have already raised concerns amid negative headlines about inheritance tax, while some Labour MPs have warned about the financial burden of a reformed care sector. The Sun, external says there might be more cash to fund care if the welfare bill was not already high.

The Times says privately run nursing homes will be locked out, external of any of the prime minister’s care proposals to stop taxpayers’ money being used to subsidise the profits of private equity.

But the Financial Times says Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds has sought to settle investor jitters over Burnham’s push for public control, external, stressing his desire to attract private capital into key sectors of the economy.

The Times reports research from Harvard University which concludes that the nutritional quality of a meal does not depend on how processed the food is, external. The study concluded that items such as fortified cereals and tinned beans can be healthy even though they are processed, while white rice and homemade desserts could be unhealthy, despite being less processed. A scientist not involved in the research tells the paper “it’s an important counterbalance” to studies that have “led to widespread scaremongering”.
